The University of Tulsa football program is using mastRcam technology from 8K Solutions during practice sessions in Miami this week for the Miami Beach Bowl. The Golden Hurricane will play the Central Michigan Chippewas on Monday at Marlins Park in the 2016 edition of the Miami Beach Bowl.

The mastRcam is a high-definition camera that sits atop a 55-foot tall pneumatic mast with a ground level control station that includes protective canopies, monitors and the capability to run for several days on a single charge.  The mastRcam can be used in conjunction with Lyvve Coach to create instant replay for practice that is displayed on a trailer mounted 17′ video board.

“We tested the technology during the season with amazing results. We were really excited when 8K stepped up to supply us with one for our Miami Beach Bowl preparations,” said Tulsa football’s director of video services D.J. Welte. “The major benefit of a mastRcam is safety. Instead of sending our staff members 50 feet up in the air on a scissor-lift, now we can control the cameras from the ground with a mastRcam. In addition, the mastRcam affords us more flexibility and the ability to multi-task our camera operators.”

The Titusville, Florida based 8K Solutions was founded in 2013 by XOS founder Dan Aton and focuses on video acquisition and display technology for top tier sports teams.  The technology has been widely adopted by a majority of NFL teams and more than 20 NCAA college football programs, as well as NBA and NHL teams.
